Cosmo’s Crash Course on How to Live Fearlessly
Last weekend, female entrepreneurs, warriors and future empire runners planted themselves on the Upper West Side of Manhattan to attend the first Cosmo conference titled: Cosmo’s Fun Fearless Life. I was one of the young and “fearless” in the crowd and looking for a morning jolt stronger than coffee.
I found it, through the infamous editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine, Joanna Coles. Coles offered an opening act that included her strutting on stage with a gaggle of young men at her side. It was a wakeup call that I was happy to receive.
The opening gave just a small glimpse into the energy, enthusiasm and excitement packed into the two-day conference, which also included free stuff like complimentary make-up tutorials and Spanx nylons.
To put it bluntly — it was this girl’s dream.
The speakers at the conference included a list of successful people like Fox News’s Megyn Kelley, Nasty Gal founder and #GirlBoss author Sophia Amoruso, actress Gabrielle Union and Spank founder Sara Blakely.
Each speaker packed a punch filled with power and vulnerability by speaking on their personal experiences. The audience raved about it on social media using #funfearlesslife.
Coles said that her mission for the conference was to provide a crash (and fun) course on life that delivers the inspirational tools needed for smart women to live their fullest and biggest lives.
Well Coles, the mission was successfully completed. Now, when is the next one? Looks like it’s headed to Miami on December 6-7, 2014 at the James L. Knight Concert Hall at the Arsht Center. See more at Fun Fearless Miami.
The New York event was held from Nov. 8-9th at the David H. Koch Theater and was curated by the Cosmopolitan magazine team, along with fellow partner William Morris Endeavor (WME). Sponsors included Express and Maybelline New York.
